Sending the drone in first
How to use a R.E.P.O. drone deliberately, given that the game lets it target valuables, players, enemies and ordinary objects rather than only one of them.
Applies to
0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)
Before you start
- A drone in the crew's hands
- A room you would rather not walk into
- Battery left in it
Steps
- Decide what the drone is for before it goes out.
the drone has separate targeting for valuables, players, enemies and ordinary objects - Check it is not set to go for players before you deploy it.
players sit on the same targeting list as the loot - Watch the line it draws rather than assuming it is on the right thing.
the drone keeps a line between two points to show its target - Do not count on it lasting the whole level.
the drone runs on a battery with its own drain setting - Send it in before the crew rather than after somebody is already in trouble.
deploying and retracting are deliberate steps with their own sounds
Common mistakes
- Deploying a drone that is set to target players.
- Letting it run out of battery in the middle of a room.
- Treating the drone as a substitute for looking where you are going.
