A vehicle that is wrecked, and the box on it

A vehicle being destroyed runs through states rather than being one event.

What happens to a vehicle in R.E.P.O. when it is destroyed: the wreck runs through states, fire with its own intensity and flicker, an explosion at a position of its own, particles for being repaired, and the box of valuables it carries, which can break and come back.

What the game establishes

In play

A destroyed vehicle is not switched off. It runs through states of its own, and each change of state has particles, so a wreck is something the game plays out rather than a model that stops moving.

A wreck burns. It carries fire with an intensity and a flicker amount of its own, which is why the light on a wreck is not a constant glow but something that moves.

The explosion happens somewhere specific rather than somewhere unspecified. There is a transform for where it goes off, and being repaired is drawn with particles as well, so the machine has a picture for both ends of its life.

The vehicle can also be carrying something. The box of valuables on it is part of the vehicle's own object rather than a separate thing that happens to be resting there, which is why the loss and the wreck are the same event from the player's side.

That box can break, and the break is staged. There is a buildup for it and a particle for the buildup, and there is a separate particle for the box coming back, so a broken box is not simply gone.

What this entry does not tell you: how much damage a vehicle takes, how long each state lasts, or what the box is worth. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
