Valuables with a behaviour of their own

The milk carton is a valuable with its own physics: mass, gravity, a spring, friction and an angular influence.

Some valuables in R.E.P.O. are machines or liquids rather than props: the milk carton has its own physics, the egg has a fuse and a camera shake, the scale has a display and the phone rings.

What the game establishes

In play

Some of the valuables are not objects that sit there. They have behaviour of their own, and the game configures it per valuable rather than sharing one set of rules for everything worth carrying.

The milk carton has its own physics. Mass, gravity, a spring, friction and an angular influence are set on it, along with multipliers for how hard it lands and how strongly gravity pulls it, which is why it can be knocked over and roll.

The cocktail is a valuable with liquid in it. It keeps the liquid, a transform for the mess it makes, an eye of its own with a particle, and a sound for spilling — so the thing that looks like a drink has parts rather than only a shape.

The egg is a small bomb. It has a time to explode, a time to rest after cracking, a range for how often it jolts, a torque multiplier and a camera shake with its own time, strength and bounds, which is why an egg going off is felt as well as heard.

The scale is a machine. It has a display with text, a unit and a background, a weight curve, a number of decimal places, a scroll loop for the numbers and sounds for a winner, a loser and an error.

The phone rings. It has a distance at which it can be heard, a light, a ringtone, a vibration sound, a pickup sound, timers for how often it rings and a flag for whether it has rung yet, so a phone can be ignored and then rung again.

The star wand fires something. It has a particle, sparkles, a sound for building up, a bullet to spawn and a point to spawn it from, which is how a valuable can be a weapon as well as a payday.

The flashlight clicks and flickers. It has separate sounds for switching on and off, two kinds of flicker, a big light and a collider of its own, so the light is part of the object rather than an effect played at it.

The scale is a machine as well as a valuable. It flickers on an interval of its own for a set number of times and carries a trigger collider, which is why its face can change while it is being moved.

The two pictures beside this entry are the game's own: the carton the milk valuable is drawn from and the face of the scale valuable.

What this entry does not tell you: what any of these is worth, how long the egg takes to explode, or how far the phone can be heard. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
