Reading a theme before you fill your arms

How to use the level themes in R.E.P.O. to decide what is worth carrying, given that each theme brings its own props and its own valuables.

Applies to

0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)

Before you start

Steps

  1. Identify the theme in the first room rather than halfway through the level.
the game ships separate artwork for each theme, so a theme is there to be seen
  2. Learn what the theme counts as a valuable before you fill your arms.
a level carries a set of valuables it prefers
  3. Expect the props to belong to the theme rather than being clutter.
each theme brings scenery of its own
  4. Treat a themed room as deliberate rather than random.
a level description names special modules of its own
  5. Do not assume two levels of the same theme hold the same things.
the preferred valuables are recorded level by level
