Using the ladder without wasting the battery
How to get up to something in R.E.P.O. with the extending ladder, given that using it costs battery and it has to be placed against something real.
Applies to
0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)
Before you start
- The ladder in the crew
- Battery charge to spare
- Something solid at the far end
Steps
- Check the far end before extending, not after.
the ladder has collision checks and an end collider of its own - Extend it against something solid rather than into open air.
it extends a bridge rather than resting on a wall - Retract it when you are done.
extended and unextended are states it can be put back from - Spend the battery deliberately, since extending is what drains it.
extension drains the battery at its own rate - Leave it where it will hold rather than on a smooth surface.
the ladder has sticky material settings of its own
Common mistakes
- Extending into nothing and losing the extension.
- Leaving it extended for the rest of the run.
- Setting out with a flat battery.
