When a monster has you
A monster exists whose behaviour is built around holding a player.
Being grabbed is a situation R.E.P.O. plans for: the game defines a monster built around holding a player, and reviving a crew member depends on carrying the right item.
What the game establishes
- A monster exists whose behaviour is built around holding a player. (checked against the game's own files)
- Reviving a crew member requires a dedicated item. (checked against the game's own files)
- Fighting back uses separate weapon objects. (checked against the game's own files)
- Being held has a camera of its own for the local player, and both hands have an animation for it. (checked against the game's own files)
- The hugger is built with a cute face and parts that check and guide its gas. (checked against the game's own files)
In play
One of the monsters is built around latching onto a player rather than chasing and leaving, so being held is a state the game expects you to be in.
Getting free is not a free action: reviving a crew member uses a dedicated item, so whether a rescue is possible depends on what the crew brought.
Fighting back uses separate weapon objects, which is why a crew that brought weapons has an answer that a crew carrying only loot does not.
What this entry does not tell you: how long a hold lasts, how much damage follows, or the reach of any weapon. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
