How to get through an arena race in R.E.P.O., given that the game builds the course from track pieces with a start and an end, shows a timer and a pulsing arrow, and gives the winner a crown.
Applies to
0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)
Before you start
- A crew ready to start a race
- The arena loaded
- An agreement on who drives and who rides
Steps
- Find the start piece before anything else.
the course is laid out from a start piece and an end piece with pieces between them - Follow the arrow rather than guessing the turns.
the interface carries an arrow of its own that pulses - Watch the timer instead of the score.
the race has a timer of its own on the interface - Look for the pad on the straight sections.
a boost on the course comes from a pad of its own - Wait for the crown rather than assuming the result.
the game gives the winner a crown, and the player's own crown is a separate piece
Common mistakes
- Turning before the arrow changes and losing the course.
- Ignoring the timer until the race is over.
- Treating the crown as decoration rather than as the result.
