Using a staff without losing the loot
How to use a R.E.P.O. staff deliberately, given that the antigravity, void and torque staffs each move an object in a different way.
Applies to
0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)
Before you start
- A staff in somebody's hands
- A heavy object that has to move
- A route out of the room
Steps
- Decide how the object needs to move before picking a staff.
the game ships three staffs as separate items rather than one with settings - Reach for the antigravity staff when the problem is weight.
it is an item in its own right with its own surfaces - Reach for the void staff when the problem is distance rather than weight.
the void staff is a separate item from the antigravity one - Use torque when the object needs turning rather than lifting.
the torque staff has an arrow of its own - Clear the route before you start moving something, not afterwards.
every staff is still a carried item, so you have to walk the object out
Common mistakes
- Bringing one staff and hoping it covers every problem.
- Lifting something before checking the doorway.
- Treating a staff as a way of carrying more rather than of moving differently.
